Message: My three-month old baby boy has just started attending a nursery in the mornings. Although the women there seem really knowledgeable and caring, I could not believe my eyes when I watched them playing with paint! One baby, who can only be six months had a paintbrush full of paint and was literally eating mouthfuls of green paint. They seemed completely unconcerned, as the paint was non-toxic?
I may be over reacting, but does this sound OK?

Message: I work as a Nursery Nurse in a Day Nursery and I am so frustrated at the lack of trust shown by some parents.
Example, there is a child in my room whoes mother will not let him play outside in our secure play area or go out on organised walks etc.
The poor child feels completely left out through no fault of his own.

Message: Speaking as a mother of a pre-school child, I can sort of understand both sides of the argument. When you leave a young child with a child minder or nursery, you feel so worried that you won't be there if they should come to harm.
Consequently, you can try too hard to protect your child, and so stop them from participating in anything.

Message: Speaking as a parent and a nursery manager I can tell you that the child should certainly not be eating the paint and I could see why you were concerned. Obviously they all try to have a munch on most things and as it is non toxic there should be no major panic but they should definatley be stopped as eating paint is not the done thing and I don't think that excessive amounts would be very good for their little tummy!
At our nursery we play with things such as ice cubes and corn flour etc
