Message: I am five months pregnant with my second child and it has not been the easiest of times. I have always suffered from migraines but since becoming pregnant they have been relentless. As the only medication I can take is paracetamol the migraines are taking an age to subside. in fact all I can really do is lie down in a darkened room until I feel better, but this can take a couple of days. Obviously this has had a dramatic effect on my ability to continue working and even looking after my other son.
Message: I do sympathise with your predicament as I know from experience just how debilitating migraines can be. Although, I did hear a fascinating article on the radio the other day. A doctor (who was in the UK) believes that many migraines are brought on through grinding ones teeth during the night. He suggested that a chemical is released from your jaw muscles which activates the migraine. He also suggested that one can purchase some sort of gum shield which prevents you grinding your teeth during sleep.
Message: I really do know how you feel!
Since my teens I have suffered with migraines, although they were never really debilitating. However, since becoming pregnant they are coming thick and fast and are really horrendous. My doctor says that it is due to the hormone changes during pregnancy. But like you I can't take anything stronger than paracetamol.
