My baby son has had diarrhoea for 1 wk now. I am still breastfeeding him and for the first few days I carried on feeding him and giving solids when he wanted them. By Friday things hadn't improved and he vomited a few times. On Saturday the doctor said 24 hr water diet with Diorolyte. Saturday was a terrible day! Sunday I reintroduced breast milk but I upped the feeds and took him off before he finished to get him to take less. As you can imagine he hated this! I also gave him toast and he still had some diarrhoea. yesterday was the same. He has been drinking water from a cup too.
Should I carry on and what other foods can I introduce over what time scale? This has been a dreadfully stressful time.

Try not to worry too much. I know that there is nothing worse than nursing a baby who is limp and miserable from having a stomach upset. The key thing to remember is that so long as he is taking liquids he is OK. The doctor is obviously involved and as long as you have faith in him/her just let it take it's course.
