I had a caesarean nearly three years ago and the scar is still red, itchy and sore. My friend told me that if it were still like that afer this amount of time then it would probably stay this way forever. I can't believe that I am going to have to live with this forever! Has anyone got any advice?

My caesarean scar is just over 2 years old, half of my scar was red and lumpy. Until I read your note, I hadn't taken any notice of it for ages, and now that I look at it I realse why - the lumps and itchiness have gone!! Half of it is still a bit red, but fading rapidly. I think it has only just gone, but I can't exactly remember when. However, it has definately not put me off - I just want them to unzip the same hole next time!!

I hate to tell you but I think your stuck with the itchy scar. I had my c-section five years ago and the itchiness and redness still comes and goes. It drives me crazy! No anti-itch cream will suffice either. I was also recently diagnosed with Caesarean scar endometriosis, which is a chronic and very painful side effect of having a c-section. I'm going to a new Gyno next week and hope to get surgery scheduled to remove the scar tissue bundle of nerves and alleviate this pain I've been living with for four years. I never knew have a c-section could have so many repercussions....
