Message: I am growing increasingly panic-stricken at the defiance of my four year old daughter. When asked not to do something, she will answer back in such a rude and cheeky way. I imagined dealing with this in her teenage years, but not yet! Not only is she like this with us at home but also with anyone who tries to correct her. I end up shouting, which I hate doing and just feel that I have totally lost control.

Message: Unfortunatly you get this behaviour often with daughters what ever their age.The best thing to do is tell her how rude she had been,& she is to say sorry or there will be no sweets, choc or what ever it is she likes to have or do daily.Dont go back on your word. If you have said no sweets for two days mean it & when she asks for sweets remind her why she can't have them.Don't let her see that her behaviour bothers you, walk away hum to yourself even if shes having tantums, when you shout at her she has got the reaction from you that she wanted.Praise the smallest of good behaviour, with "well done or that was nice of you"she will then learn to be good gets mums attention,be bad & treats are taken away. Its a mother& daughter thing, she is seeing just how far she can push you.when you shout she has won.
